Well, that at least explains the innkeeper.

Can he be murdered now? I would like him to be pecked to death by ducks, please.

You'd like little Kari to lose her job and go hungry? You cruel bastard.

Not him, this noble guy.

Disloyal Subject
So long as his coinpurse is duck-proof. Those guys WILL yank shiny objects like buttons and belt buckles free if they can, and I'm sure that money would help the inn a lot. I doubt they'd even have to launder it so long as they spent it conservatively.

So Vandelay had less authority than the baron before. I can only guess that he moved up in rank through hard and honest work.

How did you figure out that he named his knife and what it's called.

Well well, this what's-his-name-again is just shaping up to be an increasingly likeable, stand-up guy. By likeable, I mean punchable. And by stand-up, I mean what the fuck is wrong with you you piece of shit is it really that hard to learn some frickin' empathy.

Quite a realistic portrayal of an everyday villain, though. We have a lot of those "I'm not racist, I just happen to think people of other races are inferior, and our political rhetoric should reflect that" people discussing refugee politics in my country these days. Oh, happy days.

Same here, except that "political refugee" is often used in place of "Wanted criminal in another country" because it's a nicer way of saying they can't go back.

Seriously, stuff like that is what gives assholes like this ammo. That said, if you were going to be killed for dating outside your caste, or stealing a loaf of bread, or speaking out against the oppressive dictatorship running our country, that's perfectly reasonable.

What I dislike are the ones who killed someone, or were some other kind of serious criminals, and then treat political asylum as a get out of jail free card, specifically because they provide fuel for guys like this.

Yeesh, that was wordier than I intended.

Edit: I meant to say that this is a problem in my country. It's due to immigration services being so overworked, understaffed, and poorly managed that political asylum basically means living in cities or shanty towns while you wait to be processed. Background check? What's that? Oh, don't be silly. You can't do background checks on people from other countries! That would be silly!

Everyone agrees it's broken, but it never gets fixed, because everyone's fighting over how it needs to be fixed.
